Sometimes I wonder if Bryke ever read the arguments their fans make, especially Zutara fans. They really don't seem to understand what we see in Zutara, and yet, our reasoning is posted all over the internet.

I know fans of the opposite don't always read the counter-arguments. It's like no. We love our pairing SO much we don't even want to hear WHY the other pairing WOULD work, that does not even bash our pair.

I know they don't have any obligation to look at our side, but it I feel like if they're going to bash us ad tell us our relationships are doomed, the least they could do is hear our reasoning.

I actually had the strangest urge to cry when I saw Old Katara. It was like the Katara from A:TLA was gone forever. It's silly, but it just made me feel really weird, like it was goodbye, or something. I like to think of LoK as an entity separate from A:TLA, just so that I can keep the characters I loved just as they were at the end of the cartoon in my heart. I don't want their story to end. (especially with awful pieces of slag like The Promise) I like this thought process. I don't want A:TLA to end. So I'm going to do this now too. =33 They ARE separate in a lot of ways. *huggles* Poor thing.

Sometimes I wonder if Bryke ever read the arguments their fans make, especially Zutara fans. They really don't seem to understand what we see in Zutara, and yet, our reasoning is posted all over the internet. Randomly jumping into this thread to say that as a Zutara shipper, the idea of, say, venturing into the Kataang tag on tumblr and reading a Kataanger's reasonings for their ship is giving me heart palpitations. I love Zuko/Katara so much that reading a pro-Kataang argument would probably upset me. I would be reading it and thinking in my head, "No. Wow, that is wrong. LOL stop." It's not that I'm trying to be immature, it's just that there's no changing my opinion. So I can kind of see the reasoning why Bryke might be avoiding listening to Zutara shippers. However, there's a big difference between me and Bryke. I am merely a fan; they're the creators. It's their job to act professional toward all of their fans, not just the group they happen to agree with.

Everyone pretty much said what I had to say. They acted childish. That video mocking Zutara fans was unnecessary and showed just how butthurt they were that most of their show's fans preferred another pairing than what they chose. A rival pairing especially to add salt to their wounds. It's clear that they were bothered and hurt by it, or they wouldn't have created that pile of shittery.
All I can say is that I'm very disappointed in them. I still follow their tumblrs for goodies and all, but I don't kiss their asses or act ignorant to their immaturity like a majority of fans *cough* Kataangers *cough*.
I'm thankful that they created the shows, but as for my respect for them. Well, lets just say it dropped significantly.

I felt the same. when I first watched, I was blown away by how fantastic ATLA was- and I thought the creators must have been really gifted geniuses, who were spectaular people in real life. I wasn't happy with the canon paiirngs and the big damn kiss at the ending felt really off to me - but back them that equated to about five unenjoyable minutes in a series that was otherwise brilliantly entertaining.
but then I entered fandom.
I was already quite into Zutara. All the hints were there! all the foreshadowing and the symbolism. I picked them to end up together from the waterfbending scroll - because that is how these narratives normally work. the ending with Kataang actually made me feel like I was stupid at televeison.
anyway I was slightly dissappointed in the ending - but I was absolutely dissappointed in Bryke. when I found out what they were really like - all the petty trolling of the Zutara pairing, (the whole doomed relationships thing is the cherry on top of a petty sundae) it really put me right off and made my respect for them drop LIKE A STONE.
because it is so unnecessary. it is so unprofessional and it also makes absoluetly no sense from an economic perspective. Zutara was over half their fanbase - and they were basically telling us all that we were imbeciles. that is putting their personal shipping ahead of all their interests as well as being completely disrespectful to people who enjoyed their work enough to get emotionally invested.
how hard is it to stay neutral and professional - really now?
I actually think that Bryke's over all attitude encourages the Kataangers to be more obnoxious and makes the ship war more bitter than it otherwise would have been.

You can't really consider LoK as even a continuation of 75 years. The good thing is that the two shows are so different that it's not hard to separate them. I've accepted that Zutara was not endgame and that Bryke have a string dislike for it (although I cant fathom why...) But are they so resentful towards it that they can't even display friendship? I mean come on it's cruel.
The funny thing is, they way they're acting, it's almost like THEY believe in Zutara. Like they think if Zuko and Katara will meet up that they'll have an affair or something.

People bring up a good point when they speak of the damage that their obvious pettiness and spite would do to their sales. I know, because even though I was a very poor (still poor) fan a few years ago, I still tried to save up money to buy seasons of the show. When I finally did manage to save up enough, I was about ready to go out and buy them when that horrible video popped up on Youtube. To say that I was left disgusted is an understatement. I thought, "if you think you're getting any of my money after that, you've got another thing coming!" So I never bought a single season of Avatar, which is sad, because I would have if they hadn't behaved like big, obnoxious bullies. It's one thing to insult and mock a pairing, but to use the artwork of your fans to do so is just taking things to a whole new level of nastiness.
I love the show and its characters, but like many others, my respect for its creators dropped significantly.
