My mission: Start ALL the unpopular character/shipping fan clubs (Ozai FC, Urzai FC, and now . . . Tahnorra FC!). XD This is me now (source): media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4ejk1uSQK1r4phaq.gifNo, but seriously, Tahnorra is my top OTP in LoK. I will admit that I began the show completely in the omg that stupid jerk Tahno is onscreen again - eww, get him away! camp because he seemed so sleezy. However, after that scene on the bench when we saw a much more fragile side of the fabulous Wolfbat, I sat in a corner of my house sobbing and immediately knew what my OTP would be. Fanfiction and fanart has not disappointed and has only strengthened my unbendable resolve. Unfortunately, this same bench moment was the last time we glimpsed Tahno in season one. Hopefully he will make a comeback in the second season (thoughts on how this might happen?). My fangirl dream: Korra can restore his bending and spark the beginning of snarky Tahnorra (yes? yes?!). Post your thoughts on Tahno and Tahnorra below and enjoy the discussion! Let's begin with three of my favorite Tahnorra-themed artworks: This: panda-ink.tumblr.com/post/24389331777/i-was-considering-putting-sparkles-like-in-aAnd this: And this (source): 25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m5zrh3Jki01r3fadqo1_500.jpg

Gracious, but you and I seem to have very similar shipping tastes! And the sad side of that is that they all seem to be the ones that are doomed!
I admit that when it comes to LoK I am a bit of a multi-shipper, but from the first screen shot I ever saw of Tahno I just KNEW he was going to be "it". After that scene in the police station I seriously tuned in every week because I was so sure that THIS episode would be THE episode where he joined the group...and then the finale rolled around and I realized that yes, they LoK production team really did just completely waste all the potential that was Tahno (nevermind the fabulousness that could have been Tahnorra!), and we will more than likely never see or hear about him again in the series.
And as with every storytelling disappointment born of the Avatar Universe, we are left with only Fanfiction/Fan Art to mend our broken hearts. Unfortunately, as with certain other less than wildly-popular characters over whom I fangirl, there are not hundreds upon hundreds of quality works revolving around Tahno, Tahnorra, or the Wolfbats. Which is a shame.

Am I allowed to make a fan club for you? Because I think I ought to, my fellow Ozai AND Tahno fangirl! XD
I know exactly what you mean about tuning in every week and just waiting to see Tahno’s reappearance. Every single week I would just keep coming up with some new potential theory about how Tahno might return and join the team. Every. Single. Week. I was SO sure he would at least help them out in the finale, but noooooooooo. DENIED, painfully stamped right across my forehead. Then again, Haru was supposed to be a one-episode character in the original show but then he was sort of brought back . . . ? But his role wasn't that important. :/ I don’t know. I guess I like to torture myself by taking broken shippings beneath my wings.
Bonus trivia: Did you know that, shortly after I started writing Fire and Ice (I was only a few chapters in), I discovered the joy of Tahnorra and was actually going to stop writing my Zutara epic in favor of a Tahnorra epic? And, in fact, it rested upon a coin flip to decide which one I would do. The coin picked Fire and Ice, and now here we are 31 chapters into the saga! XD

Then again, Haru was supposed to be a one-episode character in the original show but then he was sort of brought back . . . ? I don’t know I guess I like to torture myself by taking broken shippings beneath my wings. Back after episode 9 aired, and no one knew where Tarrlock had taken her or how Korra would escape, there was widespread chatter over on Tumbler that Tahno would be the one to find her. Someone (Viria, I think?) even drew a great piece of speculative fan art where Naga tracked down Tahno and recruited him to help. I was really, honestly a believer in this theory, and it seemed like the PERFECT opportunity for the story writers to add Tahno to the Krew. But what really happened was completely lame. Like, to the point that when it didn't happen I was legit pissed off the rest of the day. I remember when the Tahnorra fandom exploded one of the LoK producers admitted on Tumblr that their whole team was shocked that Tahno had become such a popular character. Hopefully they will take a cue from their fans and find a place for him in subsequent seasons...but I guess only time will tell. The coin picked Fire and Ice, and now here are 31 chapters in the saga! XD Okay, while I am definitely glad that you didn't abandon Fire and Ice (because it is amazing and that would be a travesty), I think I'm going to remember this admission of yours and prod you in the future to pick up where you left off on the Tahnorra epic. Funnily enough, I also started a Tahnorra story (that I wouldn't call an "epic", but it was definitely supposed to be a big multi-chapter story), and after getting 4 chapters in my life got crazy busy and I haven't touched it in two months. I am kind of hoping that this forum and all of the kick ass writing talent here will inspire me to get over myself and continue it. Maybe being a member of the Tahnorra fan club will do the trick?

Words are not enough to express the RAGE I felt when Tahno wasn't along with Naga. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FLAWLESS WRITING! But, noooooooo. Opportunity, wasted. I forgive that episode ONLY because of the epic moment that was "I am the solution" Amon, who a few episodes later turned out to apparently be an idiot who made a water tornado thing in the middle of a public city instead of swimming down deeper into the water . . . ? Please track down that piece of fan art and post it here! ^OMG pleeeeeeeeeeeease otherwise I will be stuck watching not only all of my favorite shipping dead (again) while the canon shipping annoy me to no end (again) but also my favorite character will not even be in the show. x___x ^Oh, yes - my Tahnorra epic would have been as long and complex and convoluted (and hopefully interesting?) as the current Zutara - and it will be my next project once this Zutara saga is over (although that may take another year or two). ^Yes. Just, yes, that's it, go write your story RIGHT NOW because I need some good Tahnorra to read! And while there is more good Tahnorra than Ozai-centric or Urzai stories (of which there are only a precious handful, sadly), the fandom needs more! Here, have this Tahnorra art for motivation: Source: 24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbuya2YwQm1rdg5ivo1_500.jpgSource: 25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4nbapaIZ41qd0ludo1_500.pngSource: 25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4o109n3vn1r91o39o1_500.pngSource: 24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mcqq8wQ1bk1qgworxo1_500.jpgSource: 25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4drl6bYMB1qht1y8o1_500.jpgSource: 25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4qy39uxLP1rr2f31o1_500.jpg

Please track down that piece of fan art and post it here! Here it is! My memory was (surprisingly) correct...it is by Viria. viria.tumblr.com/image/24401924356OMFG, that one with the puppies...you're killing me here. Okay, so let's have an important discussion. Personal headcanon. Where is Tahno from (or what is his heritage)?

^Umm . . . YES. YEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!! It is perfect! Why did this not happen?! D: Thank you for finding it - kudos earned. ^The Foggy Swamp Tribe. That's why his skin color is so pale and why he acts like such a badass now - to compensate for people making fun of him during his early years in Republic City.

For. the. freaking. win. I heartily agree. As a backwater redneck turned city-transplant myself, I think it definitely explains some of his overcompensation on the haughtiness and physical appearance, as well as the interesting accent snippets that seem to be unique to his character.

Exactly! The accent snippets, the overcompensation, the white skin - all of it (in my mind) adds up to Tahno being from the swamp. I think that would make a fun Tahnorra trip - Tahno and Korra going to visit the lovely swamp for the first time since he left. I bet his cousins will be delighted to welcome him home (the swamp-fashion way).

I gotta admit, I'm incredibly curious about this ship, I think it's the allure of two giant egos resizing each other up and basking in their shared light. Also snark. And they could be bastards together and call each other out on their more egregious jerk moments, ya know? I think that'd be fun to play with. Especially because he is totally overcompensating his Swamp origins and she could use this to help him find some kernel of humility within himself, he's blunt enough to anchor her and keep her from flying off in the high of Being The Avatar, he'd help knock her down a peg or two, is what I'm saying.
Like, they could help keep each other confident as opposed to overconfident. Plus they'd do each other's hair.
So, any recs?
