Hey guys, this is a friendly reminder to please make sure you are not stealing work from other artists. This means in your avatars and signatures.
You should not be editing work that someone else created unless you have permission. Now, this does not apply to manipulating screenshots and promo images that are released from Nick. What I'm talking about is taking someone's fanart, like one of Vince's drawings for example, and editing and/or cropping it to make your signature or avatar. The drawing belongs to Vince and you should not be doing anything to it without permission. Some artists won't care, while others will.
It seems nitpicky, but I know many artists who don't want to see their stuff edited. Cropping it counts as editing. So please be sure you ask the original artist AND gain permission to use their stuff.
Lastly, once you gain permission, there needs to be a credit in your signature. Even if you don't have a signature graphic, you can add text. A simple "credit to Nymre @ DA for the avatar" will suffice. To do this, go to Profile>Modify Profile>Signature.
Failture to comply with these rules will result in a warning. If a moderator suspects you are using work that does not belong to you, we will ask you to prove you have obtained permission. [Do remember that many Zutara artists have distinct styles, and therefore it's easy to figure out if you're using work that doesn't belong to you. So don't try to pull a fast one, lol.]
We are currently in discussion about opening up a requesting area, where you will be able to make requests specifically for sigs and avatars for this site.
If you have any questions about whether or not your signature/avatar is okay, don't hesitate to ask! I just want to make sure that we respect artists and their work.
