I can't get enough of Russian authors. They depress the hell out of me and I love it! Like Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina and Fyodor Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment, Brothers Karamazov, and The Idiot.
But what I really enjoy are creepy short stories and novellas. Anything by Edgar Allan Poe, William Faulkner, Virginia Woolf, Alice Munro, HP Lovecraft, and Margaret Atwood.
I also have a special place in my heart for The Stone Angel by Margaret Lawrence, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, and Shakespeare's King Lear and Othello.

I've always adored the Belgariad and Malorean series by David Eddings.
And Howl's Moving Castle. Such a great book. Diana Wayne Jones writes the most lovely fantasies.

I've also read HMC more times than I can count. I read it so many times when I was in middle school that my mom tried to ban me from it. XD I still remember my very first read through. I wanted Howl and Sophie to be together more than anything in the world. It was perfect.
I've read Castle in the Air, but not The House of Many Ways. I forgot that one existed. I'll get to it eventually.

The Chrestomanci series is also wonderful. You're right, all of Diana Wynne Jones' books are win-sauce.

I've been too busy with fanfiction to read real books lately. (and by lately I mean the past 11 years) I'm finally done with all of my course reading forever though, so I can finally get back to Sherlock Holmes and Eona.

You've read Eon and Eona? Excellent! I read Eon a little over a year ago and loved it, but Eona had to be put on the shelf because I was so busy with schoolwork. Good luck on your thesis!

I have Eon but haven't started it yet. Angelfall by Susan Ee is the book that has grabbed my attention this year. If it had the marketing that The Hunger Games has, and was published years ago, it would be so huge. It has a very similar feel to it, but it's better. lol At least I think so. So, so good.

I have read all of the Redwall books by Brian Jacques (RIP ) at least 50x over and I still cannot get enough... Also yes, Howl's Moving Castle is a great book. Oh, also The Hobbit. But my real recommendation is the Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness. Has anyone read these books? It's a trilogy.
