Lol! Katara silenced the boatman! She would. I bet she would be just a recalcitrant if she were facing the grim friggin reaper.
Grim Reaper: It's tiiime to goooo. Katara: Now you listen here! *stamps foot*

Katara is all manners of stubbornness, especially in this fic. She tells the boatman (monkeyman) off, she tells Zuko off several times, she tells a few other spirits off and, eventually, threatens a god. Needless to say, Zuko doesn't feel exceptionally safe in her hands - what with her telling off gods and the like.
This is from chapter 3:

Ugh, I know. The next three chapters are going to emotionally drain me; I just know it. But at least they'll have lots of action in them.
So excited for these ficlets, but you know if you keep up these lengths your ZM submissions will be over 31,000 words! ;P

Have you ever have one of those days when you're working on a reaaaaaally long fanfiction and suddenly you realize it seems that a story you initially planned to be ~100,000 words or so in total is pretty much going to have to be ~500,000 words before completion? And then you realize there is no end in sight. No end. T___T

I mapped it out in my head, and I thought 'hey, that's doable.' And then I started writing and I realised I've written 116420 words and I'm maybe a quarter of the way through the story, if even that. This, right here, is exactly what I realized today about "Fire and Ice." This exact thing. At ~125k words, I'm only about 1/3 of the way done. But at least both of our stories have structure and purpose, so yay for planning! We should invent a machine that takes our thoughts and automatically generates text in our unique writing voices and styles. This, I would buy.

As for me, though, my stories don't usually grow much longer than I originally mapped out. Unlike you two I do actually think small. ;P
Didn't get to finish the rough copy of chapter 3 for The Descent last night, but I am 5,000 words in so it's looking good.

Unlike you two I do actually think small. ;P Teach me to think small, master! I caaaaaaaaaaaaan't (but wish I could). T___T ^The snippet you shared sure is looking good! Gaaaaaaaah, all the talent on this forum makes this pretty much my favorite place. I can't wait for you to wrap up The Fifth Column, too - it's very much magnificent! ^My brain drafted these two little snippets for the fourth part of my fic. At some point I should probably stop procrastinating on my homework. Probably.

Scenes like these are so wonderfully emotional. My family has a horrible habit of interrupting me when I'm reading emotional bits. Endless annoyance!
