On Livejournal there's Lynny17. She's responsible of a new fetish: FIREMAN ZUKO. I hope she finishes her fanfiction A fire within Both Zuko and Katara are such failure in there it's hilarious. I love More than the price of honor, I shall give a look to KimberlyT fanfiction too, then. Also the Stalking series is good.I think if someone is ever going to write a tv show with real actors Emletish should be the head writer. Not only because of Zutara, but also because she goes further and really deep down on things that were just hinted in the show. And these are not even her characters nor her story. You should see the way it's written Azula. My beautiful queen. Or even Jet,LOOOOL.A bland character on the show to me,but I was crying for the laughters in the fanfiction Emletish wrote from his pow(it fits the stalking zuko universe). YEP.But I said this over and over to her in my reviews on FF.NET,just wanted to share the love also here. Same goes for me,really. Aw Zutara fandom y r u so top quality?

In general, I have definitely found this to be absolutely true. Zutarians tend to be quite excellent writers and artists. This is why I am every day becoming more and more absorbed into my computer as I go from the Zutara Tumblr tag to Fanfiction to deviantART and back again to Tumblr searching for new work in an endless cycle of awesome discovery. XD

Thanks for the love share Vassilissa! I just loved Azula as a character and I never liked how she just gets so dismissed out of hand by some people - so I tried to give her a better life and a chance at redemption and peace after the series. Jet for me just had so much hilarious potential (he is like a crazy bomb - you chuck him into any situation and boom) - so I had to retrieve him from the land of killed off-screen.

Because there are zillions of ZK fics to begin with, there are also a ton of ZK badfic (this is true of any fandom according to some proportionality constant that I have yet to determine exactly hehe). But I agree, when you find the best Zutara fics out there, they are amazing. And there are more great fics than you think. Everybody's heard of the classics and the greats (most of these are the long multichaptered fics), but I remember reading many one shots over the years which are just heartbreaking and beautiful and incredibly moving but you don't hear about them on rec lists and such and some are obscure and hard to find (on lj or somewhere else.) Seconding the rec of lynny17's stuff - her fics are always entertaining. I'm one of those patiently waiting for A Fire Within to be updated (go Failkotara! pfffft : She'd said recently on one of the comments threads that she was planning on finishing it this fall but who knows?

I keep on tooting The Slow Path's horn to high heavens. It really is one of my favorites, mostly because, although it is Zutara, it's also about the entire gang being such a family unit after everything is said and done, all the different connections are there, and each is intricate in it's own way and for it's own reasons. I'm particularly in love with the Katara-Toph side of things because I havethismajorfixationonthembeingbestiesfoerevermore. Ahem. And Mai's life choice is just glorious. It has a sequel in which there is even MOAR Toph-Katara awesomeness. they fight crime gaizz!!!! they fight crime ::hearts in eyes:: Can't remember if it's complete, though the major climax of things is out of the way, so maybe it's waiting for an epilogue. Not sure. Also seconding any and all recs for the Stalking Series because honestly, that's just pure craftiness and satisfying character evolutions. Er, thirding (?) the rec on lynny17's A Fire Within. Failkotara may now have become my favorite word LOL. And lastly, because I think no one has mentioned it yet? the Sparrowkeet Series, which I have no words to describe other than naming my general feels of: ouch, and you kids are so cute in various and complicated emotional ways which I am lapping up, and aww mah bbs, and wow this girl can write. And also GIMME MOAR.

I'm in the minority with you. I often can't bring myself to read a continuation to something that was originally intended to be a long one or two-shot. With both Sparrowkeet and A Red Light Turns On I was satisfied with the original stories. I don't dismiss the quality of the writing at all. I just preferred the original endings. Here's a potentially interesting topic: What are your favorite quotes from all of these favorite fanfictions (that handful of lines that just moved you in some deep, lasting way)? Hmm. I can't currently think of one at the moment, but there have been plenty that have made me laugh and made me nod my head in agreement.

Me three with the Sparrowkeet Series. The first chapter was great, but I wasn't enticed to keep reading. Chapter one was just fine by itself, and I don't think anything could really be added to it.

And also GIMME MOAR. Sparrowkeet is probably in my top three Zutara fics; a few months ago I couldn't stop rereading chapters at random. But for some reason the latest chapter didn't go as high as the others on the feels-o-meter (?) for me. I think the first chapter can certainly be enjoyed as just a one-shot; that's sort of the advantage of fics like Sparrowkeet, where the chapters aren't linear but more like one-shots about the same universe.

I'm always intrigued with how authors write Zuko's confession to Katara. I have to say that momothelemur made me squee with what she had Zuko write to Katara in her fic Don't Trust Me. This part in particular gave me major feels: "You told me that the sun and the moon can never be together, but I would give up the Earth to share the sky with you. The stars and clouds around us, they're nothing. Distractions. You don't belong to a star. You belong with me." - Zuko
