I'm waiting for the next Penance chapter as well. Misora has mentioned several times (rather recently, in fact) that she hasn't abandoned the fic, so I still hold out hope. Captive Audience is similar but definitely more AU-ish, whereas Penance technically fits into canon. I think it's still worth reading, even if it is unfinished - it has some good smutty moments I liked Love Thy Enemy a lot but The Hunter and the Prey is really not my cup of tea. I've recently reread sharkflip's Enslaved, which was actually the first Zutara fic I ever read, and even though it looks like it's been abandoned it's still worth reading. So good! Has anybody else here read it?

I haven't read Enslaved, but Drisela's artwork makes me want to. I'm sure I'll get to it eventually.

Same here. The Zuko in the Hunter and the Prey was definitely not the Zuko of the series to say the least. I've managed to read it all but it was painful. Still,Love Thy Enemy was a wonderful read although incomplete. I did. It's not my favourite fan-fiction ever, but it's such a unique fan-fiction,you can't miss it. Did the author study anthropology or something? Even the language problem is dealt perfectly.

Enslaved is amazing. It's one of my favorite ZK fics, and one of my favorite fanfics in general. Sharkflip does an amazing job with the worldbuilding, character development, the anthropology, the language barriers, everything.
She hasn't abandoned it either! She's mentioned on her tumblr that she's working on the next chapter. I'm pretty sure she has every intention of finishing it soon (thank gods.)

ooh I also really liked enslaved. I think the language thing was something I really liked about it. It did feel like what its like to leanr a new language. It's just a bit frustarting when you have so much to say but you don't have teh words. so that part of Zuko's characterisation really felt real to me.
favourite fic at the moment is "promises to keep" by Kimberly T. gosh I adore it. It's just so well written and so in character. I'm not normally into capture fics - but she handles it so well. and the fragile little friendship that blossoms between Zuko and Katara is just beautiful.

Kimberly T is completely amazing, I will have to agree. Her writing is enchanting. She also offers very wise advice (she's given me a few pointers on my fic, and each time the suggestions have been quite insightful).

oh my gosh I love that scene and how he wants to distract her from her...innards. Oh Zuko, never change. Other favourite is the tsungi horn scene. oh how it makes my heart ache! She really gets across that awkward teenager feeling so well. the characters really act their age. Another thing I like is that Katara never forgets she's a prisoner either. I'm really not a fan of stockholm syndrome style capture fics where they instantly fall for each other.

Still,Love Thy Enemy was a wonderful read although incomplete. Yeah; I ended up reading the whole thing but I was very uncomfortable. S01!Zutara just does not work for me in general, and Zuko was particularly OOC there. The language thing really is one of the highlights of Enslaved, though it is very well written in general. I love her version of the Water Tribes and the way she writes adult!Sokka and Katara. I'm so glad to hear she hasn't abandoned it, that's great news!

Yeah I agree about Zuko in hunter and the prey. Not quite the same lol. I really like More than the Price of Honor. It's a really good capture fic.

I think that's the mark of a talented author, one who can take cliches and make it something special. Not many can do it. Cliches are often the hardest to write, I think. I'll be sad if it's abandoned too. I was really impressed with the characterization.
