So what did you guys think of Book 1? Did you like it? Did you hate it? Are there things you still want answered? Feel free to rant about it here if you'd like.

Hm, I'll talk on this!
I liked it a lot. There were a few things that bothered me, but I really don't have many complaints. I "aww'd" where it was appropriate and freaked out where necessary and actually got REALLY caught up in the action parts. I laughed super hard at the comic relief, btw? I love Bolin. That boy is hilarious. Mako is sweet underneath all his roughness, he's tsundere for sure. Hurr hurr!
I'm definitely looking forward to Book 2. Fans are screaming that Amon is still alive, I kinda hope he isn't, because that would be... really annoying. I vote new bad guys every new season! Give us a grip on what it tastes like to deal with a different guy, instead of the same old, same old.
Don't get me wrong, I was almost knocked cold when I saw Amon's REAL face. I knew he was a hotty under that mask! Steve Blum was his voice... obviously, he was hot! XD >>; *cough*
However, over all I loved Korra the most. She is a truly loveable character and brings this great mixture of Katara and Zuko to the screen. Matching my favorite characters into one body? That was why I loved the show. Not for the pairings or plot. But for Korra. She just has real pep, and I love 'er! =D I want to be her best friend.
*cough* I'll scamper off now...
Aaaaaaaah Very Merry Unbirthday...

I LOVED BOOK 1. Since Legend of Korra was supposed to be a short series on nick...it had to be rushed. That was the only thing that I hate about it, but yet I still love it at the same time. People always complain how rushed it was, but they obviously didn't know that it was supposed to be a short series then Bryke got the green light...and TA DA. BOOK 2. I'm really looking forward to book 2, and hopefully it's not as rushed as book 1 was. Either way, I'm still gonna love it. ^-^ I miss watching Legend of Korra every Saturday... D': OMG 2013 HURRY, pl0x.

I actually enjoyed the fact that Book 1 just kind of got on with things. It added this whole new level of intensity to the show. Sure, it would have been nice to have a few more episodes slotted in to flesh things out a bit more, but overall I can't say I have any real issues with book 1. I loved the characters (there wasn't a single character who I disliked; even Tahno, who is a huge jerk, made me love him simply for the fact that I loved to hate him, lol). I also really, really appreciated the fact that Asami got to have her own development. As much as I love Makorra, I would have happily settled for Asami/Mako as well, simply because I liked her character and didn't mind the two of them together. Also, can I just say how much I LOVED the fight scenes! Seriously fangirled every time someone got into a fight with the equalists (especially Korra, Lin and Tenzin), because the fights in this one just seemed to be so much more epic than what we saw in AtLA. I also liked the fact that we got have adult characters in this one. I loved the kids in AtLA, don't get me wrong, but it was nice to have some adults to mix things up as well. Plus, Tenzin and Lin are made of win. In short, I'm really looking foward to book 2, because I know it can only get better from here. ^_^ I have to agree! The fights scenes were more epic in LoK. The only epic fight scene in AtLA were prolly between Aang and Ozai and then Zuko and Azula in the final episodes. Those types of fighting were always in LoK! They were all epic! In a way, I also would've settled for the Masami relationship. I loved her character so much, I just hate how most of the time every single word she said was about her father. I wish they would've made her said a little bit more.

I agree with Boogum! The fights were way more intense and amazingly animated than in AtLA. LOK brings wonderful fight scenes to us! I always grin like an idiot when I see them, because they rock so hard! =D
I was totally okay with Masami. At first, I didn't like it... but then I remembered I was supposed to be open to ships in this show. So I just SHIP EVERYTHING straight. I really enjoyed how strong Asami was, and very un-girly. Even Korra was startled by her ability to be massively cool. Well, Asami's life is involved very heavily with her father's. They are quite close. It's only natural that she talks about her dad a lot.

I thought that the animation was EPIC But the romance.... not so much . Makorra seemed really forced and awkward.I think they were trying to copy Zutara... Another thing I got pissed off was the mixed message. We get Korra and Asami. Both are strong talented women. Then Mako comes along and there's that awkward love triangle. And somwhow, Mako dates Asami and then falls out of love. Then without "officially" breaking up, he kisses Korra and confesses...-___- Whut???.... But overall, I enjoyed it. I want Old! Zutara to make an appearance

I agree with everyone here! Yeah, some people can say it was rushed, but it was only supposed to be 12 episodes and they had no idea they'd be renewed. So I think they did well with what they had. Could we have done without the love triangle (square?)? Sure, but I still enjoyed it. I loved the characters and I fangirled over every action scene, being one of the originators who coined the phrases Bat-Lin, Spider-Lin, and Wolver-Lin. (It's fun to re-read the old episode discussion posts on DA.) ^_~ I miss watching Legend of Korra every Saturday... D': Me too! But at the same time I'm kinda happy to have a semblance of a life back. Remember this: I swear it was like the show aired on Saturday and you freaked out all weekend, then the rest of the week was preparing for NEXT Saturday. I don't think my heart ever settled the entire time.

Agreed with all of the above!
I definitely though the Romance was a bit rushed, but then I had the reason that Chrome did, that it was supposed to be shorter than it was and so it being a little stressed was okay. They probably could have made the love triangle (square?!) better, but hey, props for them actually managing to make the story stretch out over the length of the season. It's not easy to stretch a small storyline and keep it going like fresh tomato juice! (What am I saying?!)
Definitely excited for Book 2!!

Warning: unpopular opinion ahead!
I don't think "well, it was only supposed to be 12 episodes long" is a good excuse for things feeling a bit rushed in the show. Movies can do a steady paced plot and romance in 120 minutes without feeling rushed. Korra had at least 240 minutes, double the time of a movie to get things done. Don't get me wrong, I love the LoK and it's a great show, but you have to admit... they could have spent some more time polishing things up first before moving it into the animating stage.
By the way, I'm not trying to poke fun at anyone in this forum! The "only 12 episodes" thing has been said all over the internet. I disagree with the opinion that there wasn't enough time to make things work. There was. Bryke simply ruined the time they had by throwing in things that weren't necessary.
Please don't hate me. OTL

No one's going to hate you for having an opinion. Of course other mini series have done a better job and LoK would have if they hadn't been so intent on forming a love square. Had there been no square (or even a triangle) and less focus on the romance to make it more organic it would have been better.
My beef, however, was less with the love square and more with the ending. Even if they didn't know Korra was going to be renewed I still think they should have left it with Korra only being about to airbend and HINTED that she would have to re-learn the other elements all over again. It would have been a more satisfactory ending (even if it was a bit of a cliffhanger), and they still would have been renewed because of it.
