You hit the nail on the head there. I love their world and the characters they created, but they really missed the mark with romance (romance that didn't even need to be there, tbh). Yep, yep - leave the romance to us! *Strikes fabulous fan pose*

I do not hate it, not at all. I just didn't like the way Byrke worked on that one. One of the reasons I so dearly love the amazing embodiments of talent that are the members of the Avatar (and especially Zutara) fandom is that we are ever so good at doing the one thing Bryke just really doesn't know a way around: creating believable romances. But Bryke is fabulous at action and plot, and we can't each be brilliant at everything. ^___^ Exactly.Just look at how Makorra and Kataang turned out. I don't think Bryke can create a good romance. Decent ones, yes but not necessarily believable.

Bryke just soured some fans by making the whole romance a square, which was unnecessary (but often believable amongst teens who are close). I think a lot of people just can't forgive Mako, and a brooding teen has to have severe Daddy and Sister issues in order to get a break in AtLA/LoK. Lol.

@ ladyavatar I totally agree with you. I really love the Zutara fandom and I'm so happy to be part of it. I don't know what I would be doing without all of you beautiful people and your talents. I really hope this never dies.

That said, I definitely feel that AtLA would have benefited with no set romances. There was so much else going on that it kind of just got in the way. I would have been perfectly content with more action, more friendship scenes, and just romantic hints here and there. EXACTLY - just like season one of ATLA. For example, we got HINTS of Kataang but not BOOM. KATAANG. Enjoy, bye!
